Early June Club Updates

We currently sit just about two weeks out from USATF Jr. Olympics State Meet at U of I. Currently, we have 20-25 athletes who plan to compete representing 5 different communities in our part of the state, ranging from 7th graders to Seniors in High School. Coach Short and I are extremely excited about the interest we’ve had. A couple of important updates about where we are at and what our athletes/families need to do from here:

  • USATF Club Signups. Our Club has been officially recognized by USATF, and athletes can now start affiliating with the Club. If you have not yet signed up for USATF membership, it is required to compete… It only takes a few minutes, and during that process, you can choose to affiliate with Get Quick (when the club affiliation option shows up, begin by typing in your zip code, and then Get Quick should show up as an option). An annual USATF Athlete Membership is $30, and you can join here. If you already have a USATF membership, you can send us your membership number and we’ll add you to the club that way.

  • Uniforms have started to roll in. We don’t have all of them yet, but it’s a relief to know that what we’ve ordered is almost certainly going to be here well ahead of time. Just a reminder that athletes will also need to purchase spandex/compression/runner shorts on their own. White, gray, or black would all work with the uniforms we have purchased. Any new athletes that decide to join beyond this point are probably unlikely to be able to get a uniform in time; but remember it’s also fine to wear a school uniform to compete in.

  • Meet & Greet. Sometime during the week of the meet, Coach Short and I would like to have a brief get-together just so the coaches and athletes can familiarize themselves with one another. We’ll get details on a day/time/location out soon.

If you have any questions at all, don’t hesitate to reach out to me at rdenton81@icloud.com or Coach Short at tshort@jccu1.org.
