There is no question that Gavyn Cothern possesses tremendous athletic ability. In his first 2 and a half years of high school, he has made a habit of achieving things that haven’t been done in Olney in decades, if ever. He became the first state champion in the history of Olney last spring, and this fall led Olney Tiger Football to it’s first ever 10-win season. He is off the charts in every testing metric we collect on our athletes.
But Gavyn is special for more than his physical ability. He is on a mission to outwork everyone, and the brighter the lights, the better he performs… he set personal bests in the state finals of HJ (where he finished 2nd) in 2023 and then did the same in Long Jump in 2024. His entire junior campaign on the football field was incredible to watch, but he was at his best in the biggest games. Simply put, Gavyn is an elite-level competitor.
Last but not least, Gavyn Cothern is a person of tremendous character. He was chosen as team captain, serves as an athletic ambassador, and was selected academic all-state (he currently has a GPA of over 4.5). He goes out of his way to stick around and help after practice, takes care of his younger teammates, and is always there to look out for the “new kid".
Simply put, Gavyn Cothern is exactly the kid any program would be tremendously fortunate to have. If you and your program have interest, you can find his contact info below, and you are certainly welcome to reach out to me. I will be happy to provide any info or answer any questions you might have!
